Current Project
My research work focuses on the economic assessment of high recovery membrane desalination of brackish water. High recovery is accomplished by a two-stage membrane desalination process with an inter-stage accelerated chemical precipitation (ACP) process to desupersaturate the concentrate from the first stage RO step. My analysis has shown that the addition of ACP is economically feasibly and enables one to achieve high recovery of up to 97% for desalination of brackish Colorado River Water.
Analysis for the desalination of agricultural drainage water also demonstrated favorable economics.
