  • Dr. Cohen was an invited panelist at the "Danger on the Delta" conference, Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, CA, March 13, 2007.
  • Dr. Cohen was a plenary speaker at the 233rd ACS National Spring Meeting in Chicago at the Division of Sustainability of Energy, Food, and Water Session on "Advanced Membrane Technology for Water Reuse". He lectured on ""High recovery membrane RO desalination of brackish water: Opportunities and limitations" (March 27, 2007).
  • Professor Cohen will deliver a keynote lecture on "High Recovery Water Desalination" at the 4th Eastern Mediterranean Chemical Engineering Conference (EMMC4), will be held on January 9-11, 2006 at Le Meridien Hotel, Dead Sea, Israel.
  • Professor Cohen visited Louisiana State University (December 5, 2005) in Baton Rouge and gave a seminar on "Membrane Surface Nano-Structuring"
  • Dr. Cohen is featured in a July 5, 2005 UCLA Daily Bruin article on the UCLA Water Technology Research Center.  See also UC Newswire
  • The UCLA Water Technology Center, headed by Prof. Y. Cohen,  is featured in the UCLA Engineering Newsletter (6/23/05).
  • Dr. Mark Wilf (Vice-President, Hydranautics) gave a Seminar on Desalination Technology (November 18, 2006)
  • Professor F. Giralt (Universitat Rovira i VIrgili) visited the PolySep Lab. during the period November 23-Dec 4, 2005.
  • Prof. Cohen was elected Board Member of the North American Membrane Society.  He will serve for a three year term (2005-2008).
  • Prof. Cohen was elected Vice-Chair of the AIChE Separations Division (2006-2008).  He will assume the role of Chair of the Division in 2009. 
  • Professor Chen gave a talk describing the Desalination Innovations Partnership (DRIP) (Thursday, November 11, 2004) at the 2004 Annual AIChE Meeting, Austin, TX
  • Professor Y. Cohen, gave a short course on Polymer Science Fundamentals at the School of Chemical Engineering, Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain), June, 2002.
  • Dr. Cohen and other PolySep Members organized and hosted the highly successful 13th North American Membrane Society Meeting, Long Beach, CA, May 11-15, 2002.
  • Professor Y. Cohen is serving as the 2002 Chair of the AIChE Environmental Division. He served as the First and Second-Vice-Chair of the Environmental Division during 2001 and 2000, respectively.
  • Ron Faibish the recipient of the IDA Channabasappa Memorial Scholarship is featured in the November/December 2000 IDA Newsletter (see page 6)
  • Professor Cohen was invited to testify before the California Senate Committee on Health and Human Services regarding Chromium (VI) contamination in drinking water, October 24, Burbank, California. Professor Cohen and his co-workers wrote a critical assessment of the transport and fate and associated health effects of Chromium (VI) in the environment; this paper now serves as a major starting point for studies on chromium in the environment. 
  • Professor Cohen was an invited speaker at the Gordon Research Conference on Membrane Materials and Processes, July 29-August 3, 2000, New London, Connecticut. He gave a lecture on "Surface Engineering for Membrane Synthesis."
  • Professor Cohen is appointed (by succession) the First Vice-Chair of the AIChE Environmental Division for the year 2001. He was first elected as the year 2000 Second Vice-Chair. 
  • Professor Cohen was an invited speaker at the Conference on Chemistry for a Cleaner Environment ( January 29-February 2, 2000, 2000), Santa Fe New Mexico, organized by the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The title of his talk was

  • Ron Faibish was an invited seminar speaker at the Department of Civil Engineering, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, September, 2000.

  • Amit Garg and Denise Yaffe attended a short course on the "Application of Neural Networks in Business and Industry" at NeuralWorks (Aspentech subsidiary), Aug 24-28, 1998.

  • Polysep CSP membrane is featured in the UCLA Magazine (1997).

  • Ron Faibish receives a travel award to attend the Gordon Research Conference on Membrane Technology, New Hampshire, USA, Summer 1997.
